BIS Rolls Out HUID-Based Hallmarking for Silver Jewelry – September 2025

(Effective From: 01 September 2025 )

BIS has introduced a new HUID-based hallmarking system for silver jewellery and artefacts under IS 2112:2025.

  What’s New?

1. The old 4-mark system has been replaced.
2. Every silver article will now have:
    BIS Mark + “SILVER”
    Purity Grade (e.g., 925, 958, 999)
    Unique HUID Code for traceability

   Why This Matters?

• For Customers: You can check hallmarked silver articles on the BIS Care App and be sure of purity.
• For Jewelers': Using the HUID system builds trust and keeps you updated with BIS standards.
